“To paint human beings, and paint them well—that’s the really difficult thing.” —Gustave Courbet

Courbet’s female nudes shocked critics. He depicted a modern woman in a style referencing classical poses.

The inscription translated reads, “Old man, here’s one to send Saint Beuve if he gives us a hard time!,” a reference to literary historian and critic Charles-Augustin Sainte-Beuve, known for his conservative opinions.

i learned that Willie, a parrot, alerted its owner, Megan Howard, when the toddler she was babysitting began to choke. Megan was in the bathroom, the parrot began screaming “mama, baby” while flapping its wings as the child turned blue. Megan rushed over and performed the Heimlich, saving the girls life (x)

Jerboas!

Jerboas are the fucking stupidest god damn animals I love them so much.

30% bounce 30% pivot 40% ear

when i was a little kid i had a book about a boy who heard his friend had a ‘baby kangaroo’ and the boy went bicycling off to see it but there was a storm coming in and he almost got swept out to sea, and he got really sick and never got there, but then his friend came to visit him and showed him the ‘baby kangaroo‘ and it was one of these. i have a really vivid image of the kid lying in bed with a jerboa standing on his chest, and he’s looking poleaxed with delight. i loved that book. but i can’t remember the name or the author or anything specific enough that i could look it up. alas.
